I think the previous achiever has not advertised adeqautely on the vertical landing. A single stage rocket 'New shepard' from 'Blue Origin' space company has done this vertical take off and vertical landing in Nov 2015.The crew module (it can accommodate 6 persons) separated and orbited at 100+ km for few minutes (it was meant for space tourism) and recovered. The booster landed safely at the designated pad vertically. This vehicle is 100% reusable. this company is owned by the CEO of Amazon.com The details can be got in blueorigin.com . It is actually a healthy space race.
