Is Space Science in crisis ?

Some of us thought  the Govt's approach now to Science & Technology is quite right. Now here somebody says its all wrong ! 
But he is sure that Indian Science soared in 2014, just (read solely) because of Mangalyaan .
And he says, its going down because :

Scientific temper

The Hindu carried an article last day, saying that Indian Scientists are without a scientific temper (article reproduced below).

It seems the author is learned, but no one accepts her. That's evident from her squint observations.  It also proves that authors without any sense of  scientific temper could write so big about  scientific temper. Pray GOD, she gets a  bit of common sense and scientific temper.

Interest Rate Cut - Who gains ?

Last week, the RBI has cut the Interest rates  by 25 bp. As you rightly guessed, it benefits many, though not all.
But who loses ?  Its we pensioners. Most of us have put some money in FDs , as a monthly income source. Reduction in interest rates now hurts the Pensioners.  More to this woe, deposit rates could drop further. This will further hit the pensioners.

Forgotten people !

Are we pensioners a 'forgotten people ' ?   It seems so !

The  National Convention of  Central Govt  Employees  Organisations participating in JCM , at NewDelhi  on 11th December, submitted a Charter of Demands to the Central Govt.  It seems they have totally forgotten the Pensioners, and the fact that they'll be pensioners in the coming years !

The CGPA, Kerala unit, quickly responded to this, and have reminded them to make necessary changes , to include pensioners' demands too.

The relevat portion of the modified demand reads thus :
Effect wage/pension revision of Central Govt employees/pensioners from 1-1-2014, accepting the memorandum of the Staff side JCM.
Ensure  5 year wage/pension  revision in future  .
Grant Interim Relief and merger of 100%  DA/DR.
Ensure submission of 7 CPC report  within the stipulated time frame of 18 months .
Settle all anomalies of 6 CPC.

Mr. Nayak, the new 'nayak' for ISRO

Dr.Radhakrishnan. Chairman, ISRO, retired on Wednesday (31-12-2014).
Mr. Shailesh Nayak will be the interim Chairman until the new Chairman is posted.

K. Balakrishnan Nair

K.Balakrishnan Nair, formerly with RSR Project, and later with IISU, left this world last week.

He is survived by his wife and two sons (Media celebrities Unni Balakrishnan and Venu Balakrishnan).

May his soul rest in peace.
