Russian Mars Missions



50 years ago, ie. On  30 November, 1964,  Russia launched a multistage spacecraft “ Zond Two   towards  Mars. This was in reply to the American (NASA)  Mariner-5 (the Spacecraft to Mars) . The Space-ship carried an automatic station for recording and transmitting information back to earth.
This was the second attempt by Russia to launch a spacecraft to  Mars, after its first attempt – Mars I – was launched  on Nov 1, 1962.
