LTC scam
Yet another SCAM , it looks, is being unearthed. The LTC scam in VSSC !
But ISROfef do not wish to comment now.

Antrix Scam
It was. It was a scam and continues to be. I am talking about the Antrix-Devas deal ! Today's news papers say CBI made charges against the culprits. So far so good !
But it seems , many more closely involved are out of the net. May be that's how it is in our country. Else, how do you think the then Chief of ISRO goes unscanted ?

The relevant part of the Fin Minister's Budget speech goes thus ...
"(c) Pensions
42. The expenditure on pension
payments of the Central Government includes both defence as well as civil
pensions. Pension payment, in nominal terms was estimated at ` 74,076 crore in
RE 2013-14 and at the year-end it was accounted at ` 74,896 crore. In BE
2014-15, pension payment in nominal terms was estimated at ` 81,983 crore. In
RE 2014-15, it has been revised at ` 81,705 crore. The pension payment of
Central Government for the past few years has been growing faster than the
salary expenditure. The main reason for this is that there is an
increase in number of pensioners due to higher retirements and increased
life expectancy. In view of the likely impact of VII Pay
Commission, Pension payment of the Government likely to be about 0.7 per
cent of GDP in FY 2016-17 and FY 2017-18 respectively

Family pension - Train your spouse
Family pension takes nearly 6 months to reach beneficiary. This is the finding of a recent study .
This happens. According to the rules, the family pension should be disbursed the day after the death of the pensioner is reported. But, various shortfalls make it late.
The message is that if you want your spouse to get the family pension without interruption, make appropriate documentations and make the family pensioner aware of the steps needed for that.
Train your spouse as a widow/widower !!
After the death of the Pensioner, a set of papers are to be furnished to the Bank. This includes a letter about the death and family pension, and others. You would need a joint Bank account.
So, make your Bank account (Pension account) joint with your spouse immediately. Draft the intimation letter (except for the dates ! ). Make your spouse understand the essentiality and modus operandi.
Please don't ignore this !! Remember, someone may not be available for your spouse's help !!

Before you die !
When you die, will you be forgotten for ever ? Most likely, unless you do something very important right now.
If you would not be forgotten as soon as you are dead, either write something worth reading or do something worth writing. [ Benjamin Franklin]
So, please start writing something right now. May be your thoughts, stories, service stories, reminiscences, study notes on your favorite subject, and what not ! Write, write, and publish. No publisher ? Don't worry. Create a blog and post all your writings there !!

Retirement age to 65
A press report says that the Govt is actively considering increasing the retirement age of Scientists in R&D Organisations to 65 ( from present 60 ). That's good news to ISROites.
Budget, Budget, and Budget - The good and bad
It's budget time. And it seems it is just over !
We expected many things in the budget concerning us, the Central Pensioners. But ....
Let us put down a few points from the Budget news !
The salaried class are disappointed ( and certainly the pensioners too )
No increase in the minimum taxable limit. And, no reduction in personal tax rates. So be prepared to pay more Income Tax amount next year.
FM says, concessions were given (earlier) despite inadequate fiscal spaces. So, he didn't look at the employees and pensioners. But he also says " Lot to look forward to as fiscal capacity improves". That's right. He knows well about the carrot and stick policy. Well.... hope drives us all. So, let's hope the best.
Additional tax exemptions on premium payment towards health insurance and contribution towards pension. Yes, for the new employees . But what's for those pensioners ?
To highlight the absolute neglect, here is some statistics !
The FM referred the term "investment" as many as 60 times in his speech.
He also referred the term "infrastructure" as many as 30 times.
And he made reference to the words "OROP" or "Full Parity" 0 times.
And finally, the Good News is that the FM did not make any proposal to cut down our pensions. Thank God, That's the best news !
